About time… black, Asian and multicultural cards for Valentine’s Day from Chilli Melon

With Valentine’s Day around the corner, I’ve been writing up
my gift guide on what to get for him and her, as well as alternative gift ideas
for couples.
However, for all us desi girls, I’ve come across a fantastic
place that does multicultural – mainly Asian and black – personalised greeting
cards, providing a cute and quirky twist on the traditional offering.

Chilli Melon is the brown person’s Moonpig, and the cards
cost around the same price.  With cards
for birthdays, Diwali, father’s day and of course Valentine’s Day, the cards
are funny and personable, and not like anything I’ve seen in Clinton’s cards.

I think it’s about time us desi’s had our own greeting cards.  The only thing remotely close to this (as far
as I’m aware) has been the limited offerings you see in Asian clothes shops,
where a rack of about 20 cards are personalised to different names, none of which
are mine.
I particularly like this rather tongue-in-cheek Valentine’s
card, which is just soooo relevant to my blog!

Also, similar to Moonpig, you can also customise your cards
with a photo of your loves one, adding a personal touch.
The only thing I thought was missing from the selection were
Eid cards.  There were cards for Diwali
and Raksha Bandhan, so it would be great to see some Muslim greetings
cards.  But hopefully this is something Chilli
Melon will work on.
Now we’re approaching Valentine’s Day, if you’re
looking for something different, definitely give Chilli Melon a look.
