Westin Hotel, Kuala Lumpur, review

On our trip to Kuala Lumpur, we opted to stay in the Westin
Hotel, as it had good reviews and was also very well located.
On arrival, we realised that not only was it in a great
location, it was a great hotel too.
The Westin in Kuala Lumpur is an amazing, towering 5-star
hotel based in the city.  It is located
opposite the Pavillion Mall shopping centre, and key attractions such as the
Petrona Twin towers and the KL is within walking distance.
As well as having shopping and tourist attractions nearby,
the Westin is around the corner from the more urban side of KL, bustling market
stalls and a street of restaurants and masseurs vying for your attention.
We stayed at one of the more spacious suites, which boasted
views of the twin towers, the Pavillion Shopping Centre and the city view of
Bukit Bintang.
The room had all the amenities you’d expect of a five-star,
from the wide screen TV, toiletries, robes and slippers, as well as individual
washroom, toilet and shower facility.
One thing I would warn about the bathroom however, is that while it’s
convenient having the shower, sink and shower separate, neither facility
affords much privacy.  The shower doesn’t
have a door, but instead is half-covered by a glass wall (read- see through),
and the toilet door and wall is made of frosted glass.  So while you won’t mind if staying as a
couple, a holiday with friends or family may prove slightly embarrassing, or
you’d simply take turns using the bathroom.
Blushes aside though, the Westin Hotel is affordable
chic.  Given its grandeur, I was
surprised about how reasonably priced the hotel was.  We paid xxx a night, which would get you a
squalid room in a B&B in the UK.
So I would say that the Westin Hotel is a great crash pad if
you’re planning a trip to KL.  It’s luxe,
affordable and in the best location for shopping, sights and food.
